Open to all HCPC registered Allied Health Professionals Fixed term and Secondments both welcomed Practice Education Lead - Allied Health Professions () Fixed Term until 31st March 2027

Part Time - up to 32.4 hours per week

Band 7 Salary Range £52,845- £61,466 per annum (pro rata)

Distant Island Allowance of £2,578 per annum (pro rata)

An opportunity has arisen to support the delivery of Allied Health Professions (AHP) Practice Education across the island health boards, NHS Orkney, NHS Shetland and NHS Western Isles. This post will be hosted in NHS Shetland but can be undertaken remotely so is open to any HCPC registered candidate. We are seeking applications for people able to deliver 0.9 WTE however we are flexible so would also welcome applications from people who wish to job share or are able to offer less than 0.9

We are looking for a motivated, collaborative, and proactive individual who is committed to developing the AHP Workforce and has experience, or a strong interest, in facilitation of learning, education, supervision and workforce development.

The purpose of this role is to support and facilitate the development of sustainable, high-quality learning environments for the AHP workforce across island health board settings. The post holder will contribute to the delivery of national AHP Practice Education priorities, with a focus on strengthening AHP Support and Supervision and supporting effective preceptorship for AHPs going through periods of career transition.

The role will involve working collaboratively with local teams, services, and national partners to support learning, confidence, capability, and career development across the AHP workforce. In addition, the post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of national practice education programmes of work.

We want to hear from you if:

  • You are passionate about the role of practice education supporting learning, supervision, career development and CPD for allied health professionals and support staff.
  • You have knowledge and experience of AHP Support and Supervision and/ or Preceptorship
  • You can demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • You have relevant experience in education, supervision, mentoring, facilitation and workforce development
  • You are a qualified AHP and registered with the HCPC
  • You are qualified to master's degree level or SCQF 11 or can demonstrate the equivalent e.g. a critical understanding of the theories and principles in education, application of critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis, autonomy, and initiative.

This post is offered on a fixed-term basis until 31st March 2027, due to the post being funded through a fixed-term funding arrangement. If you wish to apply for this post as a secondment opportunity, you will need to discuss it with your line manager before submitting an application.
