Engineer to join our Civil Infrastructure team in Birmingham

We work across a variety of clients from National contractors and developers through to UK Statutory Bodies enabling us to work on diverse and challenging projects. This enables us to deploy best practice and bring the latest ideas to our delivery.
Role Overview &Key Responsibilities
As a Highways Engineer
, you will support the design and delivery of highways and transportation schemes, working under the guidance of Senior and Principal Engineers. You will be responsible for producing high-quality technical outputs, developing your engineering capability, and contributing positively to project teams.
- Assist in the design and development of highways and transportation schemes across feasibility, preliminary, and detailed design stages.
- Produce highways designs, drawings, calculations, and schedules in accordance with relevant standards and guidance, including DMRB, Manual for Streets, and local authority requirements.
- Prepare technical information for reports, specifications, and tender documentation.
- Support the coordination of highways design inputs with other disciplines, including drainage, structures, and utilities.
- Respond to technical queries and comments under the direction of Senior Engineers.
- Support construction phases by assisting with technical clarifications, site queries, and design updates as required.
- Carry out design checks and reviews on own work prior to submission, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Maintain clear and well-organised design records, calculations, and technical files.
- Assist with data collection, site visits, surveys, and analysis to inform design development.
- Support optioneering and feasibility studies, including the preparation of sketches and comparative assessments.
- Contribute to risk assessments and design risk reviews under supervision.
- Develop proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Micro Drainage or similar).
- Actively work towards professional accreditation (e.g. Eng Tech or IEng, with a pathway to CEng where appropriate).
- Seek and respond positively to technical feedback, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
- Work collaboratively within project teams, demonstrating good communication and organisational skills.
- Promote safe working practices and a strong health and safety culture.
- Degree qualified in civil engineering or similar
