Position: AV Design & Estimating Account Executive (Permanent)

Role Purpose
The Account Executive (Design & Estimating) supports customers (Key accounts) by developing detailed technical designs and producing accurate cost estimates for audio-visual and access control solutions. The role is accountable for the technical integrity, pricing accuracy, and completeness of quotations and supporting documentation, while the Business Development Manager retains ownership of the customer relationship, commercial strategy, and final proposal.
By ensuring solutions are fully costed, clearly defined, and ready for delivery, the role reduces commercial and delivery risk and enables efficient progression through the sales cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design Development:
Develop detailed technical designs for audio-visual and access control systems based on briefs defined by the customer (Key Account) and/or Business Development Managers.

• Estimating & Quotation Production:
Produce accurate cost estimates, quotations, and scopes of work using Quote Works and internal pricing frameworks, ensuring technical feasibility and commercial accuracy.

• Technical Integrity:
Validate system architectures, equipment selections, and assumptions in line with the company standards and project requirements.

• Sales Enablement:
Support Business Development Managers by providing timely, accurate technical and cost information to progress opportunities efficiently.

• Customer Support:
Participate in customer meetings or calls, where required, to clarify technical requirements and explain design or cost assumptions, under the direction of the Business Development Manager.

• Risk & Scope Management:
Identify technical, commercial, and delivery risks early, ensuring briefs, assumptions, exclusions, enabling works, and dependencies are clearly documented.



Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Collaborate closely with Tech Dev, Project Management, Technical Sales Engineers, Service & Maintenance teams, and manufacturers to ensure designs are technically sound, delivery-ready, and suitable for handover.

• Workload & Deadlines:
Manage allocated estimating workload to meet bid deadlines and internal service-level expectations.

• Documentation & Standards:
Produce and maintain high-quality technical and commercial documentation in line with the company standards.

Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to the standardisation and continuous improvement of design and estimating processes across AV and access control solutions.

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• Proven experience in design, estimating, pre-sales engineering, or a similar technical-commercial role.

• Experience with access control systems (e.g. speed gates, turnstiles, credentials, and control platforms) is highly desirable.

• Strong working knowledge of audio-visual systems.

• Demonstrable experience producing technical designs, cost estimates, and quotations.

• Experience using Quote Works or a similar estimating/quotation platform (essential).

• Commercially astute, with a sound understanding of pricing structures, margins, and commercial risk.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to both internal stakeholders and customers when required.

• Proven ability to build effective working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.

• Highly organised, process-driven, and comfortable managing multiple bids simultaneously.

• Proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail.

• Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across departments.

• Clean and valid driving licence
