Community Volunteer Companion - West Lothian

Marie Curie is looking for compassionate, everyday people to join our Companion Team within the surrounding areas of Edinburgh, Midlothian and West Lothian.

You don’t need a medical background or all the answers – just a kind heart, a listening ear, and a little time to give.

As a Companion Volunteer, you might visit someone and share stories, connect through hobbies/interests, chat about life, update them regarding local or wider activities. Sometimes just a conversation with a cup of tea/coffee in hand provides a steady presence. You may also have the opportunity to volunteer within various care homes across West Lothian.

• Support families and carers before and after bereavement

• Age 18 years or older
• Provide 2 non-family references in our online application form
• Spend 3 hours of your time each week
• Be patient, friendly, and a good listener
• Be non-judgmental and emotionally steady
• Be comfortable using email and happy to complete short visit reports
