Join Barnet Lane Clinic as a Clinical / Forensic Psychologist and play a key role in supporting service users on their recovery journey through high‑quality, evidence‑based care.

At Barnet Lane clinic, we support adults aged 18 and over with complex and enduring mental health needs who require a highly specialised approach to inpatient care. This includes individuals where autism, trauma, emotional needs and physical health conditions overlap. Individuals are likely to have diagnostically complex presentations, treatment‑resistant conditions, histories of self‑harm, disordered eating, Personality Disorder (PD), trauma, physical health comorbidities, neurodevelopmental conditions, autism, ADHD, enduring psychosis.

In this rewarding position, you will support the delivery of psychology services within a specialist area, working closely with multidisciplinary teams under the supervision of a Senior, Principal or Consultant Psychologist. You will contribute to ensuring service users are fully engaged in their care pathways, providing both direct therapeutic interventions and supporting the wider clinical team in delivering person‑centred, recovery‑focused care.

You will play an active part in strengthening team working by contributing to staff training, sharing psychological knowledge and supporting the development of effective clinical practice. Alongside this, you will be involved in shaping and developing new initiatives and ways of working, helping to continuously improve the quality and impact of the service.

Working collaboratively with both internal teams and external agencies, you will help enhance treatment pathways and ensure service users receive holistic and coordinated care. Key Accountabilities
  • To provide psychological assessments of patients based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological (and neuropsychological) tests, self‑report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi‑structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the patient’s care.
  • To formulate plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a patient’s mental health problems based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the patient’s problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
  • To implement a range of psychological interventions for individuals within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
  • To develop and manage groupwork programmes and innovative therapeutic approaches. To ensure that appropriate outcome measures are in place.
  • To ensure that Psychology practices in the specified area of service maintains the highest standards of professional practice and ethics, complying with clinical governance standards at all times.
To be successful in this role, you will need
  • Successful completion of a Doctorate in either Clinical or Forensic Psychology or the British Psychological Society's stage 2 training in Forensic Psychology, enabling registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Registration with the HCPC as a practitioner Psychologist and Charterable status with the British Psychological Society.
  • Experience (either pre‑training, on training, or subsequently) of working with clients with complex needs that are relevant to the population in the service area.
  • Competency in psychological assessment and formulation skills and an aptitude for learning new assessment methods.
  • Competency as regards risk assessment/management tools and formulation.
