Position OverviewThis will be a fixed term post for a 12 month period.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to take on this important and challenging role.
We are looking for a conscientious individual who is a good team player to work within this busy but friendly department.
With an extensive knowledge of Cellular Pathology Services, you must be forward thinking and able to demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills. You will be accountable for leading the histopathology section of the Pathology Department, providing a source of expert advice and representing the Laboratory at an organisational level where necessary.

- Represent the Laboratory at an organisational level where necessary.
- Work with and support the Clinical Laboratory Manager in the development of the histopathology service.
- IBMS Accredited Honours Degree in Biomedical Science and HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- IBMS post‑registration Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology or equivalent.
- IBMS accredited MSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
- Extensive knowledge of cellular pathology, histology and immunocytochemistry at a specialist level.
- Excellent management skills (a relevant qualification is desirable).
- Evidence of current continuing professional development.
- Good understanding of clinical governance, risk management and audit.
- Proven leadership experience.
The base for this post is at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.
Hours of work: 36 hours per week.
The Department is a UKAS accredited medical laboratory No. 8682 and has IBMS Training Approval Status for pre‑ and post‑registration training.
