Senior Oncology Dietitian

You will be accountable to the professional lead for Nutrition and Dietetics and you will be based at Northampton General Hospital (NGH) site within the dietetic teams based there. The post involves providing a service to oncology inpatients and you will have a caseload of outpatients receiving cancer treatment at Northampton General Hospital (chemotherapy and radiotherapy). You will have support from the other dietitians working in oncology / haematology and the dietetic and wider MDT.

You will work primarily with lung, colorectal, breast and gynaecological cancers sites. You will have support of the Prehab / rehab oncology dietitian and access to specialist dietitians who work within specialist posts for head and neck, upper GI, Haematology and hepatic, pancreatic and biliary tumour sites.

• Undertaking comprehensive assessment of patients with complex presentations and multipathologies within inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Formulating individual management and treatment plans using advanced clinical reasoning and developing comprehensive discharge plans including advice on appropriate ACBS prescribable enteral feeds and supplements to be used.
• Working collaboratively with the wider multi-disciplinary health care team to ensure delivery of coordinated care and to provide specialist advice and attend case conferences, network meetings as appropriate.
• Providing advice and training to patients, carers, colleagues and other healthcare professionals to promote an understanding of the aims of dietetic treatment to ensure a consistent approach to patient care.
• Organising and prioritisation of own workload and managing clinical risk within caseload.
