NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join NHS Tayside as Team Lead Occupational Therapist within a Hyper Acute Stoke Unit. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, evidence-based OT interventions to patients in the early stages of stroke, supporting rapid assessment, early rehabilitation, and discharge planning. You will manage a complex caseload, promote recovery through early intervention, and contribute to safe and timely patient flow.

As Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and developing the acute stroke Occupational Therapy service. This includes driving service improvements, embedding best practice, supporting the development of new models of care, and strengthening collaborative working across acute and community pathways. Additionally, there will be opportunities to contribute across the stroke pathway, delivering clinical and professional support within acute, rehabilitation, and community services as required.

Strong leadership, communication, and advanced clinical reasoning skills are essential. You will demonstrate excellent prioritisation, organisation and time management skills. A key aspect of your role will be the supervision, support, and development of junior staff, nonqualified support workers and students, fostering a positive team culture and maintaining high standards of professional practice.

This post offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced Band7 Occupational Therapist or a highly skilled Band6 seeking progression. You will join a supportive, forward thinking leadership team, with rich opportunities for professional development and collaborative working within NHS Tayside’s Stroke Services.

Essential requirements include HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist and significant post registration experience within Stroke. All internal applicants must obtain authorisation from their line manager before applying.
