On 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow.

We support staff with education and training, provide the tools and data that improve services, and run vital national functions such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services.

As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.

Deliver the direct care to donors throughout the donation process of blood and blood products, ensuring the donor’s continued support through a high level of clinical/customer care. Working to agreed clinical and quality standards and procedures using accurate data input to safeguard donor and patient safety. The post also involves performing and monitor venepunctures to obtain donations and samples in accordance with nationally approved procedures.

We are looking for a Senior Donor Carer to join our existing team of staff who provide a high standard of care to our donors. You should be friendly, enjoy meeting people and be willing to work as part of a team. In addition to providing a high standard of care to our donors you would be expected to transport staff and equipment to sessions.

Although based within the Inverness Collection Team you must have a sound knowledge of the geography of the region as extensive travel throughout the region is required.

You must be flexible, and willing to work variable hours. Hours include Mon‑Sun and regular late evenings.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

The location is Dundee & East Blood Donor Centre, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

Monday to Sunday, 25 hours per week
