We are looking for a Junior HR Assistant to join our team! 15 hours per week, Tuesday-Thursday
Role OverviewThe Junior HR Assistant will provide administrative and operational support to the Human Resources function, assisting with recruitment activities, employee onboarding, probation management, sickness absence monitoring, and general HR administration. This role is ideal for an individual looking to develop a career in Human Resources and gain exposure to a broad range of HR practices.
Key Responsibilities Recruitment & Onboarding- Support the end-to-end recruitment process.
- Draft and post job advertisements on recruitment platforms and the company website.
- Screen applications and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.
- Communicate with candidates throughout the recruitment process.
- Prepare offer letters, contracts of employment, and onboarding documentation.
- Coordinate pre-employment checks, including references and right-to-work verification.
- Assist with new starter inductions and onboarding activities.
- Maintain recruitment records and update HR systems accurately.
- Monitor employee probation periods and maintain accurate records.
- Schedule probation review meetings at appropriate intervals during the first three months of employment.
- Send reminders to managers regarding upcoming probation reviews.
- Prepare probation review documentation and outcome letters.
- Escalate any concerns or probation-related issues to the HR Manager.
- Record and monitor employee sickness absence on HR systems.
- Ensure absence records are accurate and up to date.
- Support managers with return-to-work processes and documentation.
- Monitor absence trends and flag concerns to the HR Director.
- Maintain confidential employee records in accordance with GDPR requirements.
- Support the implementation of the company's absence management procedures.
- Maintain employee records and personnel files.
- Produce HR correspondence including letters, contracts, and policy documentation.
- Support payroll administration by providing accurate employee information.
- Assist with employee lifecycle administration, including starters, changes, and leavers.
- Ensure compliance with company policies.
- Support HR projects and initiatives as required.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Previous experience supporting recruitment activities.
- Experience using HR information systems.
- Understanding of HR best practice.
