Job Title:

General Manager / Operations Manager

Responsibilities
  • Ensure revenue and profitability targets set in the budget are met and work is delivered on time.
  • Manage all aspects of production and all staff related to production.
  • Ensure the production process is as effective as possible and aligns to commercials.
  • Run daily production meetings and contribute to overall strategy and development of the business.
  • Ensure that formal quality processes and procedures are followed and reported.
  • Support maintenance and development of ISO
    9001 Quality management system.
  • Ensure production operates to agreed procedures and quality standards, handling all technical problems for projects and products.
  • Drive continuous improvements and methodologies to improve product and commercial return.
  • Coordinate production scheduling, providing resilience and challenging processes for continual improvement.
  • Collaborate with Group Managing Director Operations to seek further improvements and align with Group strategy.
  • Manage and develop the existing team, recruiting, training, evaluating, motivating, delegating and monitoring performance.
  • Maintain staff training on new advancements in hardware and software, balancing resources against risk to service and overheads.
  • Understand the financial implications of production, ensuring all costs are captured and the financial impact of actions is understood.
  • Champion the company and services, setting a professional tone and voice, and working proactively with management to resolve company‑wide issues.
  • Provide strategic leadership around continuous improvement, ensuring staff and equipment are reviewed to support growth.
  • Meet performance review objectives and deliver operations projects on time, within budget and to specification.
  • Create and implement manufacturing plans, facilities plans, and support ISO
    9001 & 14001 compliance.
  • Interface with all other business departments, account management, sales and senior team.
  • Work to deliver world‑class reliability and maintain scheduled work while communicating delays.
Key Tasks
  • Mentor and develop the manufacturing & facilities team.
  • Contribute and implement the rolling 1‑3 year strategic plan for operations.
  • Set and manage performance targets.
  • Interface with all other business departments, account management, sales and senior team.
  • Contribute to the development of the business to deliver stable products and processes.
  • Work to deliver world‑class reliability.
  • Maintain scheduled work and communicate delays.
Key Skills
  • Experience of manufacturing printed goods.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills (containment & counter‑measure).
  • Strong experience of supply‑chain management, including lead‑time reduction and packaging.
  • Manufacturing excellence expertise (Six Sigma, standard operations, plant layout, waste elimination and continuous improvement).
  • Excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and assertiveness.
  • Decision making and sound business judgement.
  • Demonstrated Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Quality management, delivering customer requirements.
Project Management
  • Report writing & presentation skills.
