Job Description & How to Apply Below

Overview

NHS Tayside is seeking an exceptional Director of Finance to provide strategic leadership and stewardship across one of Scotland’s largest and most complex health systems, serving almost half a million people across Angus, Dundee, Perth & Kinross and North East Fife.

As a member of the Chief Executive Team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the sustainability and transformation of health and care services at a defining moment for the organisation. With a recurring revenue allocation of approximately £1.2bn, you will lead financial strategy, planning and performance to ensure high-quality care is delivered within a robust and transparent financial framework.

This is a career-defining opportunity to influence system-wide reform through the “Tayside Together” transformation programme, working in partnership with local authorities, Integration Joint Boards, universities and national stakeholders to deliver sustainable, community-focused care and improved population health outcomes.

You will provide expert advice to the Board and Chief Executive, ensuring statutory obligations are met and strengthening governance, risk management and value for money. You will lead finance and procurement functions, oversee capital planning and investment decisions, and support the organisation’s broader transformation and innovation agenda.

We are seeking a resilient, values-driven and highly credible finance leader with significant executive-level experience in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. You will be a Chartered Accountant with a strong track record in financial strategy, transformation and stakeholder engagement, and the ability to operate effectively in a politically sensitive context.

You will bring the leadership capability to build a high-performing, inclusive finance function and work collaboratively across organisational and system boundaries, combining technical excellence with integrity, compassion and clarity of purpose.

If you are motivated by purpose, committed to delivering sustainable healthcare, and ready to lead financial strategy and transformation at scale, we would welcome your application.
