As a Painter/Blaster, you will be responsible for preparing, blasting and coating components to specification. You’ll ensure surfaces are prepared correctly, conduct coating repairs, and operate blasting, spraying and coating equipment safely and efficiently. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone with strong attention to detail, practical expertise and experience working in industrial or marine environments.
Key Responsibilities- Complete painting and coating of components to the required standards, free from defects.
- Repair and prepare all surfaces prior to final coating applications.
- Inspect, clean, maintain and service spraying, blasting and coating equipment.
- Set up, operate and adjust painting, spraying and coating machinery.
- Carry out shot blasting, spraying, coating repairs and surface preparation.
- Conduct tank cleaning and high‑pressure water washing where required.
- Work safely in confined spaces and follow all site safety instructions.
- Operate site plant and equipment such as forklifts or MEWPs (where licensed).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in marine, shipbuilding or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong capability in blasting and spraying.
- Experience with mechanical/hand preparation tools and coating repair systems.
- IPAF / MEWP certification.
- Awareness and commitment to high standards of health, safety and quality.
- Experience working in confined spaces.
- ICATS or Train the Painter certification (preferred).
- Forklift licence.
- Blasting/spraying qualification or shipbuilding experience.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong team player with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Reliable, safety‑focused and committed to delivering quality work.
