Chagford CSA is a ten-acre community-supported market garden on the north‑east edge of Dartmoor supplying 130 CSA veg‑shares a week to local households. We’re entering our seventeenth growing season and are looking to recruit a part‑time Assistant Grower for a six‑month period from mid‑April to mid‑October 2026. We have recently moved onto a new growing site where we are developing a silvo‑horticultural system using woodchip and biochar from our coppice woodland to build fertility and soil‑carbon within our rotation.
The position will support all aspects of running a commercial community‑supported market garden, from propagation to cultivation, transplanting, weeding, organic crop husbandry, harvesting and managing volunteers. The role is paid at £12.50 per hour for 22 hours per week – across four days Monday‑Thursday. Caravan accommodation – or space to park‑up – on one of our growing sites is also available.
We’re looking for someone who is hard‑working, enthusiastic, practical and willing to learn and work as part of a team. A season’s experience on a commercial market garden is desirable but not essential.
Applicants should send an email to outlining why they’re interested in the position, what experience – if any – they have in market gardening, and the qualities they think they will bring to our team. The Final date to receive applications is 5 pm on Friday 9 January 2026. Interviews will take place during the week of the 19th January.
Please feel free to circulate the position to anyone who might be interested. Any questions can be directed to Ed at 07858 381539.
