Environmental Manager – Circularity and Resource Efficiency

Location: Glasgow, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and/or Reading.

Salary: £50,100 – £75,100 + performance‑related bonus and benefits.

Type: Permanent, Full‑time, Flexible First options.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Group Environment Manager, you will support SSE Group in keeping people, the environment, and assets safe, and will develop and deliver the SSE Environment Strategy, focusing on Responsible Consumption and Production. You will lead circularity and waste reduction strategies, navigate legislation, enhance corporate performance, and drive best practice across all Business Units.

Your Responsibilities
  • Lead SSE’s circularity and waste reduction strategies across the organization.
  • Develop and embed a Circularity Roadmap to drive strategy and performance.
  • Support the development of SSE policies and the delivery of best practice within the Group, Business Units, and with key stakeholders.
  • Work across the UK and Ireland to develop SSE's approach and mitigate risk.
  • Communicate complex data and solutions to stakeholders and inspire teams to achieve goals.
Your Qualifications
  • Expertise in circularity and waste management with a proven track record.
  • Strong knowledge of circular economy principles, sustainable procurement, waste management, environmental management and risk management, regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Proven experience in delivering and communicating practical solutions to environmental and sustainability challenges.
  • Proven experience in engaging and influencing stakeholders across complex multi‑disciplinary organisations.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and communicating complex data and problem‑solving.
  • A degree or master’s degree in environmental, sustainability, or related subject.
  • Professional membership of ISEP or equivalent.
