Job Description Working in a hybrid style, based at home and Dundee House, you will work full time, 37 hours per week. Responsibilities You will investigate and implement initiatives within Communities to minimise the impacts of welfare reform. You will advise individuals impacted by the Welfare Reform Changes of the changes to their household income and support them to understand their options. You will work with external partners and agencies to develop options for residents to mitigate the impact of welfare reforms, ensuring they are able to make appropriate decisions based on their individual circumstances.
You will work closely with the Council Departments and external Voluntary Agencies ensuring appropriate referrals are made to support individuals and maximise income.
The Individual You will have experience of delivering a customer focused service and have an understanding of the Welfare Reform changes, with proven experience of face to face work with clients in a welfare advice environment. The ability to use IT in the provision and recording of advice – i.e. basic word processing and knowledge of spreadsheets is essential along with effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to demonstrate a proactive approach to problem solving and decision making.
You will have the ability to use interpersonal skills to approach individuals who find it difficult to engage, take responsibility for your own workload, complete tasks without supervision and manage time effectively. You will be able to work evening and weekends when required. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
