HGV Driver – Somerset Larder – Hinkley Point C

Key responsibilities of the role include delivering ingredients, packaging, ready‑to‑eat products, and consumable items to customer operational sites as scheduled.

• Deliver ingredients, packaging, ready‑to‑eat products, and consumable items to customer operational sites in accordance with the planned delivery schedule.
• Comply with all security and health & safety requirements at customer sites.
• Ensure vehicle cleanliness before commencing deliveries and record the vehicle condition on the appropriate paperwork within required timescales.
• Ensure vehicle refrigeration equipment is always working correctly and record the vehicle temperature when loading and at all delivery locations.
• Assist the Goods in Team when necessary.
• Load items in good condition and safely secure them in the vehicle before commencing the delivery round.
• Carry out before and after use checks in line with operational procedures.
• Complete defect reporting and driver run sheets as and when required.
• Report all accidents, near misses, incidents and damage to vehicles, property, and street furniture.
• Drop off and collect vehicles from various workshops and garages when required.
• Ensure all delivery documentation, including sales invoices (when relevant), accompany each delivery run.
• Check the product/vehicle temperature at the point of each delivery and record it on the delivery documentation; hand over copies of refrigeration temperature records at the time of delivery.
• Ensure customer signs for goods delivered in good condition or any issues are recorded on the copy of delivery note returned to the distribution centre.
• Inform the company of any issues during each delivery round as soon as reasonably practical.
• Collect and return any reusable transit packaging such as plastic trays for cleaning and sanitisation at the distribution centre.
• Pass on any feedback from customers as soon as reasonably practical.
• Consistently adopt ways of work in accordance with our zero‑harm culture.

• Class 2 HGV Licence
• In‑date CPC and Tacho Card
• Level 2 Food Safety (desirable)
• Level 1 Health and Safety (desirable)
• First Aid Certificate (desirable)

Successful applicants will be required to provide a three‑year employment history, five‑year address history, and proof of right to work in the UK to secure security clearance for Hinkley Point

C.

They must be able to provide in‑date photographic  evidence of right to work in the UK, as these roles are based on a nuclear‑regulated site.
