Position Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic Transport Manager to join our team in the Fife, Tayside and Grampian area. You will be responsible for the day-to-day transport management in your area and will work in conjunction with operational staff to ensure compliance with the obligations of the Company’s Operators License, whilst providing a haulage service to operational units. You will support the Regional Transport Manager in developing and establishing key projects and plans.

You will supervise drivers, monitor compliance with transport regulations, and ensure customer satisfaction whilst placing the highest importance on our sustained standards of excellence in all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental Management. Full training on our products and processes will be provided, ensuring you're well-prepared to meet our high standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Embed and promote a culture of health, safety and wellbeing across transport operations within the area through effective leadership, engagement and consistency of communication to both company and owner drivers

* Ensure strict compliance with DVSA regulations and all relevant industry standards, ensuring the Operations license is always current and up-to-date

* Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety policy, driver defect reporting procedure, EU drivers hours rules and managing company tachograph analysis

* Maintain seamless coordination between the Transport and Distribution departments to assess resource requirements

* Responsible for digital tachograph and driver card downloads in the area and auditing company wide compliance

* Responsible for identifying and carrying out driver training and assessment. Carrying out ‘Toolbox talks’ with regards transport safety and compliance issues

* Responsible for the scheduled maintenance and driver defect repair arrangements in the area whilst liaising with workshop management, sub-contractors, management, operational and transport colleagues to ensure maximum fleet utilisation while controlling costs

* Assist with the co-ordination of breakdown repairs and recovery in the area, whilst liaising with workshop management, sub-contractors, management, operational and transport colleagues

* Carry out gate checks on site throughout the area to ensure quality of driver’s ‘first use’ checks

* Carry out Line Management of Drivers including recruitment, induction, organise learning and review competency and performance, also manage under performance and misconduct following company policy

* Ensure the compliant operation of the Transport Operation in the absence of the Regional Transport Manager.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

* A Certificate of Professional Competence in National Road Haulage Operations or equivalent

* Knowledge of the Construction industry

* Excellent time management and communication skills

* Demonstrated abilities in analysis & problem solving

* Effective communication & exceptional customer service skills

* Excellent attention to detail & good computer skills

* A hard-working and positive attitude, with a willingness to learn

* A valid UK Driving License
