Associate Civil Engineer - Water / Wastewater | Belfast
Vickerstock are pleased to be partnering with a globally recognised engineering consultancy renowned for delivering major water, environmental and infrastructure programmes across the UK, Ireland and overseas. As the business continues to strengthen its technical footprint in Northern Ireland, they are seeking an accomplished Associate Civil Engineer to lead key water and wastewater projects while helping to develop and mentor the growing civil engineering team in Belfast.
Yournew role as Associate Civil Engineer
In this influential position, you will take ownership of complex water and wastewater infrastructure schemes, while playing a pivotal role in shaping a high‑performing civil engineering team.
You will be responsible for:- Leading civil design delivery across clean and wastewater networks, treatment assets, drainage and hydraulic infrastructure
- Preparing and reviewing technical outputs including reports, calculations, drawings and specifications
- Acting as a trusted client interface, building and maintaining strong relationships with utilities, contractors and delivery partners
- Supporting business growth across the UK and Ireland water sectors, including resource planning and capability development
- Mentoring and developing junior engineers, embedding a culture of technical excellence
- Promoting innovative, low‑carbon and sustainable water solutions
- A degree in Civil Engineering (or a closely related discipline)
- Chartered Engineer status (ICE or equivalent)
- Strong consultancy background delivering water or wastewater projects
- Sound technical expertise in drainage, networks, hydraulics and/or treatment infrastructure
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing client relationships
- A track record of mentoring engineers and contributing to team growth
- Salary up to £75,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package
- A senior leadership role within an expanding water engineering team
- A strong, long‑term project pipeline with leading utilities in England under the AMP8 framework, alongside ongoing work with Uisce Éireann and NI Water
- Clear progression opportunities toward Technical Director or Practice Lead roles
