About the Role
In conjunction with the Coordinator - Inclusion Services & Support, you will build and maintain strong relationships with key academic staff in order to facilitate effective support for students with additional support needs. Working with Lecturing staff, you will implement inclusive strategies which promote positive behaviour and minimise barriers to learning within all learning and teaching.
Key Responsibilities- In conjunction with the Lecturers/Coordinator - Inclusion Services & Support you will provide high quality support & advice throughout the students’ journey, from pre entry through to progression.
- Working alongside the Lecturer to support students with complex learning needs to identify barriers and challenges to learning.
- Alongside the Lecturer, work to implement inclusive strategies which promote positive behaviour and minimise barriers to learning within all learning and teaching environments.
- Facilitate student’s access to assistive technologies to enable accessible learning and teaching opportunities for students with additional needs.
- Provide support that will enable individual students that may have personal care needs or mobility difficulties to access the curriculum.
- Educated to a minimum of SCQF level 7.
- You will have experience in a similar role providing support to students or a similar client group with additional support needs, preferably within an education or related environment.
- Knowledge of safeguarding/student issues, have an understanding of the barriers to learning and inclusion and how these maybe overcome.
- Have a positive attitude and proven record to equality and diversity practice within the sector.
- PDA Classroom Assistant/Inclusion or similar.
- Experience in working with complex and challenging behaviour.
- Experience and knowledge of assistive technology.
- Commitment to promoting the welfare of all our learners
- Organisation skills to ensure effective and efficient use of resources
- Good written, listening and speaking skills.
- Good ICT skills.
