Job Purpose
We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Surface team in Dunfermline. You will provide technically complex engineering solutions in particularly challenging project environments in accordance with Technip
FMC standards, procedures and processes, schedules and budget, with a continuous concern for quality, targets, and customer satisfaction.
- Generate and lead conceptual designs or customise existing designs for proposals or projects from customer or internally generated specifications and prepare design layouts. Verify designs where necessary using classical analysis techniques (bending, buckling, shear, bearing, and pressure vessel)
- Present designs to engineering staff during internal design review; prepare part reports and review detailed drawings. Selecting raw materials, coatings, and quality requirements as necessary
- Generate equipment assembly, test, FAT, qualification, handling, storage, rework, maintenance and commissioning procedures as required
- You have experience of specifying and designing engineered products
- You have experience in performing classical calculations and/or using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to drive design decisions (if applicable for role)
- You have an eagerness to coach our more junior members of the engineering department
- Preferably you’ll have worked with engineering product databases/systems such as ERP systems
- You’ll understand how to deliver design solutions and tasks in a project based environment (risk factors, priorities, scheduling)
- Relevant Engineering Degree
- Skilled in Engineering Drawing, Dimensioning, & Tolerancing
- Skilled in creating engineering documentation and Bill of Materials
- Knowledgeable in Materials Science
- Knowledgeable in 3D Modeling and Drafting Standards (NX or Equivalent)
- Knowledgeable in Surface Wellhead and Tree technology
- Skilled in Manufacturing Engineering
- Skilled in relevant industry codes (API 6A, ISO 9001, etc.)
- Skilled in Technip
FMC core applications, databases, and processes - Knowledgeable in MS Office
- Strong Communication skills in English, both verbally and written
- Strong Safety and Quality fundamentals
- Ability to work in a team‑orientated and diverse cultural environment
- Good planning and organisational skills
