W&A is supporting an established and growing engineering business in Fife with the appointment of a Commercial Management Accountant to strengthen its commercial finance capability.
This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work closely with operational teams, providing timely and accurate financial insight to support decision‑making across live contracts. The position suits a commercially minded accountant who enjoys building relationships beyond finance and gaining a deep understanding of how the business operates.
OpportunityThis role acts as a key link between finance and operations, ensuring robust financial control, reporting and compliance across contracts. You will play an active role in supporting contract performance, improving processes and delivering high‑quality financial information to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Preparation of monthly management accounts for individual contracts
- Supporting the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
- Developing a strong understanding of contract regulations and requirements
- Producing management reports for customers and internal stakeholders
- Ensuring contract reports are completed accurately and to deadline
- Liaising with customer contacts regarding audits and information requests
- Working closely with operational teams to ensure financial results reflect contract activity
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and best practice
- Ensuring contract sales invoices are prepared and submitted accurately
- Fully or nearly newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience in a management accounting role
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to work closely with non‑finance stakeholders
- A proactive and organised approach with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a contract‑led environment
- Hybrid working model (3 days onsite)
- Exposure to commercially focused, contract‑based accounting
