Community Development Officer

We are looking a Community Development Officer to strengthen communities and improve resident wellbeing through prevention, early intervention, co-production and community development. The postholder will work collaboratively with residents, carers, community groups, voluntary sector organisations, health partners and council services to identify and develop community solutions and increase access to support that promotes independence, wellbeing and social connection for our residents.

Duties & Responsibilities Support social workers and frontline practitioners to signpost and connect residents to local services, voluntary sector organisations, and self-help activities that help delay or reduce the need for formal care services Build and maintain strong knowledge of local community resources, groups and self-help services to ensure effective signposting Contribute to early intervention and prevention approaches, reducing demand for statutory care through community solutions Carry out outreach work in community settings to engage residents early and connect them with support before they approach Adult Social Care Embed community-based solutions across the wider Adults, Health & Communities directorate, working with colleagues from different Adult Social Care teams.

Facilitate co-production activities, ensuring residents and carers play an active role in shaping services, strategies and community solutions. Support the development of initiatives that improve outcomes for unpaid carers, including engagement, information, advice and peer support opportunities. Experience

Experience of working directly with residents, customers, or service users in a supportive or advisory role

Experience of promoting independence and wellbeing through early intervention, prevention, or community-based solutions

Experience of facilitating groups, workshops, public engagement activities or community events. Skills, Abilities & Competencies Strong communication skills Ability to show empathy, patience and respect when supporting residents and practitioners Problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify practical solutions and match residents to appropriate community support Confidence to work independently while also contributing as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, partners, and community organisations Strong partnership and stakeholder management skills.

Key Details:
Pay: £18.70 - £20.16 per hour PAYE
