Terex Ecotec, part of the wider Terex Materials Processing group, is an industry leader in the design and manufacture of wood processing, biomass and recycling equipment.
Terex Environmental equipment is a rapidly growing division within Material Processing and over the last few years has been focused on creating a complete new product line for the mobile recycling and biomass customer base.
The Lead Engineer will be responsible for the design, development and improvement of the machines within the Ecotec Trommel Group.
CareerKey Responsibilities / What you'll do:
- Collaborate with Engineering Manager, Sales, Service, Marketing and Operations to ensure the “Voice of the Customer” is integral to the development of design specifications for new products and modifications to existing products.
- Assume total product ownership for the product group.
- Work together with the engineering systems, standards and conformance groups to ensure that the relevant requirements are met.
- Identify and implement cost effective design and technology alternatives to resolve field issues, ensuring appropriate maintenance and ongoing improvements to current models.
- Provide the dealer networks with the required support and service that they require to ensure that they are completely satisfied with our product.
- Ensure use of measurable standards and performance for product safety, function, reliability and serviceability.
- Mentor, coach and develop engineering talent.
- Drive standardization of components and sub-assemblies across all product groups where possible.
- Flexible in terms of hours worked and travel on short notice when and where necessary.
Education:
- Degree educated or equivalent in Engineering, you will be able to demonstrate effective leadership, in both strategic and tactical decision making.
- A considerable track record in the design, development and successful launch to market of mobile equipment.
- Competent user of 3D Solid Modeling CAD, ideally Pro-Engineer and familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
- Good technical expertise in mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- A good understanding of the various applications that the equipment can operate in along with an appreciation for the expected performance of the machines.
- Creativity and innovative thinking.
- Good English communication skill, both written and spoken.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Good presentation and interpersonal skills.
- A strong motivator with excellent communication skills, you will be fully conversant on modern design practices and “Lean” manufacturing techniques.
- Someone who cultivates a team spirit with the respect of others’ ideas and requirements.
- It would be desirable that the successful applicant will have leadership and management skills and will also have a proven record in utilizing people effectively and managing performance against committed deliverables.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks / projects at one time.
