Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading food manufacturing organisation on the appointment of a Mechanical Engineer.

Working as part of the Engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving production equipment across a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will provide hands-on mechanical support, diagnose faults and contribute to continuous improvement across the site.
This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served Mechanical Engineer looking to join an established manufacturing business with a strong focus on reliability, safety and production performance.
In your new role:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across production equipment and machinery
- Complete hands-on mechanical repairs, welding and fabrication as required
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults to minimise production downtime
- Work with mechanical drive systems, hydraulics and pneumatics
- Re-engineer and modify equipment to improve reliability, efficiency and performance
- Provide technical support and advice to production teams
- Complete maintenance documentation accurately and in line with company procedures
- Respond effectively to breakdowns and prioritise repairs based on production requirements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the production environment
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in line with Health & Safety requirements
- Work collaboratively with the wider Engineering and Production teams to maintain high levels of plant availability
- Take ownership of maintenance issues and use strong problem-solving skills to identify effective solutions
What you will need to succeed:
- Time-served Mechanical Engineer with relevant industrial experience
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proven problem-solving ability
- Experience carrying out mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong experience in welding and fabrication
- Experience working with mechanical drive systems
- Good knowledge of mechanical maintenance and fault-finding techniques
- Ability to make confident decisions and work effectively with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and organisational skills
