Buyer, Supply Chain​/Logistics

Vickerstock are working in partnership with an international manufacturing & engineering business with a strong market presence here in Northern Ireland. Our client are looking for a Buyer to join their growing supply chain team to report directly to the Purchasing Manager.

As the Buyer, you will procure raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies in line with production schedules and business requirements while collaborating closely with production to ensure manufacturing resources are utilised efficiently and to their full capacity.

Duties

• Take ownership of purchasing activities for a designated production area, while providing support to other areas as required.
• Purchase consumables, non-production materials, supplies, and equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Manage and reschedule open purchase orders to meet changing operational requirements.
• Expedite supplier orders to ensure on-time delivery and minimise production disruptions.
• Negotiate and secure competitive pricing for purchased materials, contributing to cost-saving and expense-reduction objectives while maintaining quality standards.
• Monitor supplier performance against key metrics and implement improvement actions where necessary.
• Manage the Kanban replenishment system for the designated production area.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and provide administrative support and reporting as required.
• Communicate forecasts and demand requirements to suppliers to support effective supply planning.
• Review and approve supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding specification updates, engineering changes, and Bill of Material (BOM) amendments.

Criteria:

• 2 year's experience in a similar purchasing or supply chain environment
• Ideally have experience in manufacturing/engineering setting.
• Clear and confident communication skills with the ability to work in fast-paced roles.
