Customer Service Representative Part-Time

Nature of Work:
This is skilled work involving the operation of heavy‑duty tandem trucks or similar equipment. Incumbents perform heavy manual labor when not operating equipment. Work involves responsibility for operating a medium‑sized piece of equipment in the area of assignment, hauling supplies and materials to and from the work site, following a regular route, performing minor maintenance on equipment, and performing heavy manual labor.

Assignments are received through a schedule, verbally, in writing, or through work orders from a supervisor. The incumbent is expected to carry out the assignments with limited supervision and consult with the supervisor as needed. Work is performed in accordance with traffic laws, city ordinances, resolutions, code, and departmental and city policies and procedures. Work is reviewed daily by the supervisor and through performance appraisals.

The incumbent may oversee the work of subordinate employees. Operates tandem trucks involved with street, sewer, and water line maintenance and construction work, hauling pipe, rip rap, brush, trees, limbs, sludge, bio‑solids and other materials to and from work sites. Responsible for hauling equipment with a tandem axle equipment trailer to the work sites such as backhoes, track loaders, and ditch jacks.

Completes daily log and weekly reports on work completed; maintains supplies. Communicates with suppliers, police, other departments and the public regarding needed materials and supplies or work to be performed; responds to calls. Assists semi‑skilled laborers, skilled laborers and crew leaders with laying rocks, pipes, pouring concrete, performing patch work, running chain saws, flagging traffic, setting out cones and traffic signs, cutting pipes, setting grade, reading maps, making repairs and installations to sewer lines, restoring and landscaping grounds, and other assigned responsibilities.

Performs daily pre‑trip inspections; loads fuel and oil; checks air pressure; maintains a maintenance manual; performs minor routine maintenance and repairs on vehicle/equipment; schedules preventive maintenance and repair to equipment; cleans and maintains equipment. May utilize the following equipment while performing essential functions: tandem axle dump truck, tandem axle trailer, loader, roller, jack hammer, shovel, pick, and rake, ditch jacks, whacker, asphalt tamp, ductile and chain saw, asphalt cutting wheel, radio, pipe wrench, hand tools, level, ladder, grease gun, and other related equipment.

May perform the work of an Equipment Operator III or Supervisor in their absence. May assist with the cleaning of equipment. May assist with the maintenance of equipment and buildings. May assist other counties during natural disasters.

Physical And Environmental Factors:
Work is performed outside and incumbent is subject to adverse weather conditions, temperature extremes, fumes, dust, solvents, chemicals, gases and oils. Incumbent is also exposed to loud noises, poor viability and lighting; raw sewage, and hazards associated with working around uneven surfaces, utility lines, and in traffic. Protective equipment may be required such as gloves; safety shoes, rubber boots, hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, dust masks, earplugs, and back support safety belts.

Work involves the physical ability to sit for extended periods of time in confined seating; perform heavy manual labor; and perform repetitious hand, arm and leg movements. Work also involves the ability to perform swift movement of neck and shoulders; climb in and out of equipment; and push, pull, stand, bend, squat and crawl while performing essential functions.

Minimum Education, Training And Experience:
