Platform Engineer

Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced,challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.

Opticore IT are currently searching for a Platform Engineer
who is highly skilled in Microsoft identity, device management, automation, and core platform technologies to join our team on an initial 3 month contract inside IR35 with scope to extend. This would require 3 days per week on site in Dunstable.

This opportunity will be designing, managing, securing, and optimising enterprise platforms across a modern Microsoft ecosystem within an enterprise hospitality environment.

• Manage and optimise Entra  (Azure AD) and Active Directory environments.
• Design, implement, and maintain Conditional Access policies and identity security controls.
• Lead integrations with enterprise applications, ensuring robust authentication and authorisation mechanisms.
• Troubleshoot complex identity, SSO, MFA, and synchronisation issues.
• Administer and enhance Microsoft Intune for Windows 10/11 and Android device management.
• Work with SCCM (Config Mgr) to support OS deployments, patch management, and application lifecycle management.
• Develop and maintain configuration baselines, compliance policies, and endpoint security posture
• Build, maintain, and improve automation workflows using Power Shell.
• Develop scripts to streamline provisioning, reporting, configuration, and operational tasks
• Support and optimise the Office 365 platform, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and associated workloads.
• Implement retention, compliance, and governance configurations within M365.
• Support activities within Azure and Azure Dev Ops environments.
• Assist with pipelines, resource management, monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code principles.
• Collaborate with cloud engineering teams on deployments, improvements, and troubleshooting.
• Support diagnosis of networking issues relevant to identity, endpoint management, and cloud services.
• Apply foundational understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall concepts.

• Strong experience in enterprise-scale Microsoft environments.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Entra , AD, Conditional Access, Intune, SCCM, Power Shell, and Office 365.
• Good understanding of cloud concepts, Azure services, and Dev Ops practices.
• Ability to diagnose complex technical issues across diverse platforms.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across IT functions.
• Proven ability to deliver improvements, automate processes, and maintain secure, reliable services.
