As an Operations & Supply Chain Director within a fast paced stockist/wholesale business environment based in Dunstable, you'll oversee the logistics department, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Your role will involve managing operations and driving improvements that support the business's overall goals.

My Client are a market leading, trusted brand within their sector who deliver exceptional customer service. The business has gone from strength to strength and now is the right time to appoint a Operations & Supply Chain Director to continue the business expansion.

Description

The Operations and Supply Chain Director will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the company's supply chain, from Far Eastern manufacturing through to final customer delivery, ensuring product availability, cost efficiency, and service excellence across the business. This role owns warehouse operations, driving accuracy, productivity, and continuous improvement across inbound and outbound processes, while overseeing logistics and fulfilment to guarantee on-time, in-full delivery to customers at optimal cost.

The Director leads Sales and Operational Planning (S&OP), aligning demand forecasting, production planning, and inventory strategy with commercial objectives to balance service levels against working capital. A key focus is the efficient and strategic use of Far Eastern manufacturing partners, optimising lead times, quality, and unit cost through strong supplier relationships and disciplined sourcing practices. Ultimately, this position ensures the supply chain operates as a competitive advantage - resilient, cost-effective, and scalable to support the company's growth ambitions.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, the role ensures operational excellence, cost efficiency, and service quality, while driving continuous improvement in all core processes.

The job holder is the business lead for Health & Safety, responsible for creating a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and embedding safe working practices across all functions-particularly the warehouse operation.

Profile

Proven senior operations leadership experience within a distribution, warehousing, or supply chain environment.

Strong understanding of warehouse processes, S&OP, demand planning, inventory management, logistics, and fulfilment operations.

Far East supply chain management.

Demonstrated experience leading Health & Safety at an organisational level.

Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, KPIs, and operational metrics.

Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management capability.

Experience implementing process improvements (Lean/Kaizen/5S or similar).
