Physical Education Teacher
Durango School District is accepting applications for a Head Football Coach at Durango High School. The position is for the school year. Preseason for football will begin as early as January or February depending on the hire date.
Preference will be given to applicants who are able to also hold a position at Durango High School as a licensed teacher, permanent licensed substitute, or support staff role (special education paraprofessional, security specialist, administrative assistant).
This position is responsible for all aspects of the Football Program at Durango High School, to include but not limited to the following:
Responsibilities- supervision, mentoring, and assisting in the evaluation of assistant coaches
- complete program development from the C level to the Varsity level
- player retention
- administration of budget
- team supervision and discipline
- care and inventory of uniforms and equipment
- care of facilities
- complete annual required CHSAA coach certifications prior to the official CHSAA start date
- effective and timely communication with school administration, players and parents
- involvement with middle school and community based programs
- fundraising
- practice, competition, and travel planning for all levels
- Fundamental knowledge of Football
- Experience building and maintaining a quality football program
- Experience working with related school aged athletes/students
- Ability to work as an integral part of the coaching staff
- Current medical injury treatment course work
