Job Description & How to Apply Below
This EIC Lead will serve as the technical lead for Power & Electrical engineering and design on industrial projects, while partnering with (and complementing) an existing team strong in instrumentation, controls, and automation. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in industrial LV/MV power distribution, electrical design deliverables, and power system studies, and can also support I&C scope through strong interface coordination and practical understanding of control system implementation.
Responsibilities:Power Distribution & Electrical Design Leadership
- Lead industrial power distribution system design (LV/MV), including load lists, one-line diagrams, switch gear, MCCs, transformers, motors, VFDs/soft-starters, UPS/standby power, generators, load lists and grounding architecture.
- Develop electrical design deliverables and direct others in production: single-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring/interconnection diagrams, cable schedules, conduit/cable tray plans & details, equipment layouts, lighting and grounding plans, heat trace details, and BOMs.
- Perform and check electrical calculations: cable sizing and derating, voltage drop, cable tray fill, equipment sizing/rating validation, grounding sizing, and lighting calculations (as applicable).
- Specify and requisition electrical equipment; prepare datasheets/specifications, RFQs, technical bid evaluations, purchase requisitions, and vendor drawing reviews; support FAT/SAT as required.
- Support hazardous location requirements and electrical area classification interfaces with process safety and operations.
Power System Studies / Electrical Safety
- Perform and/or oversee power system studies using ETAP, SKM Power Tools, Easy Power (or equivalent): short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, load flow, motor starting, and voltage drop assessment.
- Develop and/or review arc flash labels, study documentation, and electrical safety deliverables aligned with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 70/70E, NESC, IEEE, API, client standards).
- Participate in process safety activities and ensure electrical design supports PHA/LOPA action items, safeguarding, and critical shutdown functions (where applicable).
Instrumentation / Controls
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with controls and instrumentation teams (panel power, I/O power requirements, grounding/shielding, comms/network architecture interfaces).
- Support development/review of EIC documentation (e.g., P&IDs impacts, I/O lists, Cause & Effect, control narratives) as needed to ensure alignment with power and safety requirements.
- Provide oversight/technical input for PLC/HMI scope when required; hands-on programming is not the primary function of this role.
- Serve as electrical discipline lead: define design basis, work plans, and deliverable lists; drive 30/60/90/IFC reviews; ensure consistent QA/QC and constructability.
- Estimate electrical engineering hours for proposals and execution; track progress, earned hours, and support schedule/budget management with project managers.
- Mentor and coordinate with designers/engineers; provide checking and coaching to strengthen Tegre’s electrical bench and execution consistency.
Typical Deliverables
- Electrical Design Basis / Criteria and load summaries
- Electrical one-line / three-line diagrams; power distribution schematics
- Power system studies: short circuit, coordination, arc flash, load flow, motor starting
- Cable Specifications
- Conduit and cable tray plans, details, and schedules; tray fill calculations
- Grounding/earthing plans and details; bonding and shielding concepts
- Lighting plans and details
- MCC/switch gear/transformer/UPS/VFD specifications and datasheets
- Control panel and junction box layouts and details; wiring diagrams and schematics
- Area classification interfaces and equipment selection support
- Cause & Effect diagrams and control narratives (supporting)
- As-built / record drawings based on field walkdowns and redlines
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 10+ years of experience in industrial electrical power design for Oil & Gas and/or RNG facilities (E&P, midstream,…
