Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor (S0364) – Regional Crisis Center-Durango, Durango, CO

Position Summary

The Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor is responsible for the delivery of quality patient care at assigned sites and staff. The BHT Supervisor oversees the Residential BHT’s team in the delivery of quality patient care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The BHT Supervisor is responsible for supervising all assigned staff and providing direct patient care for a minimum of 40 % of their assignment, with the expectation that all BHT shifts are covered.

The BHT Supervisor must be capable of independent action while adhering to the policies, procedures, and values of Axis Health System.

This position also provides service coordination for clients receiving services at our Residential Crisis Centers and participates as a member of the service delivery team to assist with individual care plans for clients in accordance with applicable policies, rules, regulations, and directives.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a recognized mental health profession, master’s degree preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in a mental health or related setting.
  • Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
Salary

Starting pay is $24.63 per hour (based on $22.13 base pay + $2.50 locale differential) and ranges up to $27.79 per hour, which includes a $2.50 locale differential at our Durango worksites. Salary considers preferred experience and education as described above.

Physical Demands

Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, walk, sit, stand, kneel, climb, balance, stoop, and sit for longer periods at a computer. They must be able to travel between AHS locations and may have exposure to communicable diseases. The noise level is usually moderate. Vision sufficient to read medical records and visual changes in patient condition. Hearing sufficient to interact with patients who may speak at a lower voice level.

Mobility and dexterity sufficient to assist patients and handle required instruments.

Required Skills
  • Summarize service themes from client contacts and communicate suggested improvements for service delivery.

  • Facilitate and participate in meetings.
  • Provide leadership independently and as a member of management teams.
  • Interact with diverse populations, including behavioral health consumers, family members, staff, and community agencies.
  • Knowledge of mental health medications and diagnoses preferred.
  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders, substance abuse, TBI, dementia, and developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of community mental/physical health resources and eligibility criteria; provide rapid linkage to treatment providers.
  • Protect confidential information as required; working knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR Pt 2.
  • Working knowledge of involuntary mental health holds (2

    CCR 502-1.27-65) and alcohol and drug emergency commitments (EC) and involuntary commitments (IC) preferred.
  • Follow universal precautions and report potential exposure to communicable disease immediately.
  • Operate standard office equipment (scanner, computer, calculator, copy machine, fax, multi-line telephone).
  • Working knowledge of Windows applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook); access the internet.
  • Be helpful and sensitive to all employees while respecting corporate policies.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision; plan own schedule; multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting.
