Job DescriptionUnited Pipeline Systems is seeking a driven, technically minded sales professional to grow our presence across the energy, oil & gas, municipal, mining, and pipeline construction markets. This role will be heavily focused on the Texas market, developing new business and supporting existing customers while working closely with our headquarters in Durango, Colorado.
Technical Sales ManagerThe Technical Sales Manager will manage opportunities throughout the sales cycle, build strong customer relationships, and work with internal engineering, operations, and project management teams to develop effective pipeline solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong sales and relationship-building skills with technical aptitude and a willingness to travel regularly throughout the territory to develop opportunities, strengthen customer relationships, and drive business growth.
Salary$90,000 – $130,000 annually, based on experience, with growth opportunities
Key Responsibilities- Build and maintain strong relationships with pipeline operators, general contractors, engineering firms, procurement teams, and field operations personnel throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
- Identify customer needs and project requirements and recommend appropriate United Pipeline Systems products and technical solutions, including plastic-lined pipe, composite pipe, and corrosion-resistant piping systems. Conduct technical presentations and solution discussions focused on application, performance, safety, reliability, and customer value.
- Develop timely and accurate proposals, quotations, scopes of work, pricing, and customer presentations in collaboration with estimating, engineering, operations, and other internal teams.
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation and opportunity development through commercial negotiation, contract execution, and project award while complying with company pricing and risk management requirements.
- Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, sales activity, pipeline, and forecast information to support sales planning and cross-functional communication.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, project management, and leadership to develop technically and commercially appropriate solutions that meet customer and project requirements.
- Lead the sales-to-project handoff for awarded work, ensuring scope, contract requirements, pricing, schedules, customer expectations, and other critical details are clearly communicated to project management and operations.
- Monitor customer needs, competitive activity, industry trends, market conditions, and upcoming projects to identify growth opportunities and support product, sales, and marketing strategies.
- Represent the company at customer meetings, pre-bid meetings, industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of United Pipeline Systems products, applications, installation methods, and technical capabilities, engaging internal subject-matter experts when additional expertise is required.
- Travel as needed to meet with customers, vendors, contractors, and other industry partners; conduct in-person meetings, project site visits, and facility tours to strengthen business relationships, understand project needs, identify new opportunities, and support ongoing sales and project activities.
