Senior Accountant

Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance department in Durban . This on-site role is critical for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records and reporting. You will oversee daily accounting operations, manage the month-end close process, and contribute to financial strategy. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a busy office environment, contributing to the financial health of the organization.

• Manage and oversee all aspects of the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP) and tax regulations.
• Reconcile bank statements and intercompany accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field;
  Professional qualification (e.g., CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA) is a strong advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Pastel) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Thorough knowledge of IFRS and South African tax laws.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
