Regulatory Compliance Specialist
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Respond to internal Compliance and Labelling support requests and tickets. Obtain manufacturing declarations from suppliers and prepare declarations using approved supplier templates. Conduct ingredient reviews across various international markets using relevant regulatory databases. Research products to identify restrictions, risks and market-specific requirements. Request and follow up on supplier documentation, including Product Data Sheets, Flatpack Artwork and MSDS. Maintain accurate compliance documentation and ensure files are stored correctly within designated systems.
Create and update product labels using Bartender software in line with market regulations and customer requirements. Upload, maintain and manage product labels on Gateway . Review and approve labels on Gateway contracts prior to the printing stage. Monitor the Gateway label schedule and follow up on outstanding Compliance activities. Maintain the Manufacturing Declaration tracker and ensure all required documentation is received and up to date.
Provide general administrative support to the Compliance department.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Matric as a minimum; relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous.
- Previous administrative experience within an FMCG environment .
- Previous exposure to Compliance, Quality Control, Food Safety, Labelling or Regulatory Affairs will be highly advantageous.
- Strong computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe and Teams .
- Experience with Bartender or similar labelling software will be advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies within large volumes of information and data.
- An understanding of food regulations, product standards and regulatory requirements , particularly within export markets.
- Strong research and analytical abilities, with the confidence to interpret and apply regulatory requirements.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workloads and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with internal teams and suppliers.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
- High levels of accuracy, integrity and accountability.
- The ability to remain calm and productive in a fast-paced FMCG environment .
