Senior Construction Manager

Introduction:

Our client, a leading construction organisation, is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager to oversee major construction projects from initial design stages through to successful completion. This is an opportunity for an experienced construction professional to take ownership of strategic, financial and operational project delivery while supporting long-term business growth and stakeholder relationships.

The successful candidate will provide senior-level leadership across contracts, project teams and site operations, ensuring projects are delivered according to budgets, programmes, quality standards and client requirements.

• Oversee the strategic, financial and operational management of construction contracts.
• Lead contract teams and ensure all resources are in place for successful project delivery.
• Coordinate project planning, costing and management activities across new and existing projects.
• Develop and support contract teams to achieve project objectives.
• Monitor project progress, performance and contractual obligations.
• Ensure compliance with SHEQ policies, statutory regulations and client requirements.
• Prepare and present project progress reports to senior management.
• Attend internal and external project meetings to support effective decision-making.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders.

• BSc Building Science, BSc Construction Management, BSc Civil Engineering or related qualification.
• Professional registration with SACPCMP as a Professional Construction Manager or Professional Construction Project Manager is required.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
• Strong knowledge of project management software and applications.

• Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in a senior management role on major construction projects.
• Proven experience managing large-scale construction contracts from inception through completion.
• Strong understanding of contract management, construction planning and project execution.
• Experience leading site management teams and coordinating project resources.
• Experience managing SHEQ compliance, statutory requirements and client expectations.

• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent project planning and organisational skills.
• Strong financial and commercial project management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities across complex construction projects.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, contracts and project controls.
