Senior Construction Planner

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly organized and analytical Senior Construction Planner to join their dynamic team in Durban . This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive construction project schedules. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure timely execution of all project phases, from pre-construction through to close-out. The ideal candidate will possess excellent strategic planning skills, a keen eye for detail, and a deep understanding of construction methodologies and dependencies.

This is a critical position ensuring efficient resource utilization and successful project delivery in the thriving Kwa Zulu-Natal region.

• Develop detailed master schedules for complex construction projects, incorporating all phases, activities, and milestones.
• Analyze project requirements, identify critical path activities, and forecast potential delays or resource constraints.
• Coordinate with project teams to gather information for schedule updates, progress tracking, and reporting.
• Utilize advanced planning software to create visual representations of project timelines, such as Gantt charts and network diagrams.
• Conduct schedule risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project deadlines are met.
• Review and approve contractor-submitted schedules and progress reports, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives in Durban .

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in construction planning and scheduling.
• Proven expertise in using scheduling software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and logistics.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
