Our client is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join their team managing major construction and development projects in Durban . This pivotal role involves managing all costs relating to construction projects, from initial calculations to final figures, ensuring that projects remain within budget without compromising on quality or safety. You will play a crucial part in the financial success of projects, working closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to provide expert cost management advice and support.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to contribute to significant developments in the Kwa Zulu-Natal region.
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQ), cost estimates, and tender documents for construction projects.
- Manage the tendering process, including evaluating bids and negotiating contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Monitor and control project costs throughout the construction lifecycle, identifying and mitigating financial risks.
- Valuate interim payments and process final accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Advise on contract variations and claims, providing cost-effective solutions.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for potential projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
- Professional registration with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP).
- Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably on large-scale commercial or residential developments.
- In-depth knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JBCC, NEC).
- Proficiency in cost estimating software and MS Excel.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, ideally with experience in Durban projects.
