Quantity Surveyor - Commercial Construction

Our client requires a meticulous and experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial aspects of major construction projects in Durban . This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial viability and control of construction contracts. You will be responsible for cost estimation, budgeting, contract administration, and claims management, working closely with project managers, contractors, and clients. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a comprehensive understanding of construction contracts, and a commitment to delivering projects on time and within budget.

• Prepare accurate cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents.
• Administer construction contracts, including managing payments, variations, and claims.
• Monitor and control project costs throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Conduct site visits to assess progress and verify quantities.
• Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to achieve favourable commercial terms.
• Prepare financial reports and forecasts for project stakeholders.

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
• Thorough knowledge of various contract types (e.g., NEC, FIDIC).
• Proficiency in cost management software and MS Excel.
