STADIO is looking to employ a Module Coordinator & Undergraduate Distance Learning Lecturer:
African Languages (Xitsonga) who will be based at the Musgrave Campus DL/ Contact Lecturer African Languages, Foundation Phase, and Intermediate Phase.
Module coordinator for the following modules: THLXTS
201 Teaching Home Language Xitsonga, XTSHLI
300 XTS Home Language for Intermediate Phase 2, XTSHLI
400 XTS Home Language for Intermediate Phase 3, LCXTS
152 Language Conversational XTS, XTSHL
100 XTS Home Language 1, XTSHLF
100 XTS Home Language Foundation Phase Language 2, XTSLI
201 Literacy XTS Home Language 1, XTSLI
201 Literacy XTS Home Language 2.
Lecture and assess distance learning students in the Bachelor of Education Foundation Phase modules: XTSLI
201 Literacy XTS Home Language S1a, XTSLI
201 Literacy XTS Home Language S1b.
- Perform the role and responsibilities of the module coordinator (MC).
- Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials.
- Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
- Participate in relevant programme, curriculum and material development.
- Carry out allocated internal moderation responsibilities.
- Participate in school-based Teaching Practice assessments.
- Provide academic support to students.
- Complete all Quality Assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
- Participate in research and community engagement projects.
- Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
- Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
- Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
- Fulfil functions on relevant committees, and in meetings and workshops as reasonably requested by management.
- Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.
- At least 3 years teaching and/or lecturing experience in Xitsonga at Home and First Additional Language level in Foundation Phase and Intermediate phase.
- Experience in curriculum and materials development.
- Experience in online and blended teaching and learning environments.
- Bachelor of Education Minimum Honours or equivalent qualification with relevant study in Xitsonga.
- Sound teaching and assessment skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
- High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to cope with change.
- Willingness to work when required on Saturdays.
