Senior Wind Turbine Technician

You will be instrumental in troubleshooting complex issues, performing preventative maintenance, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our wind farm operations in the Durban area. • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on wind turbines, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Conduct preventative maintenance tasks according to established schedules and procedures.
• Install and commission new wind turbine components and equipment.
• Ensure all work is carried out in strict adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repair, and inspection activities using company software.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains.
• Respond to emergency call-outs and perform necessary repairs to restore turbine functionality.
• Operate specialized tools and equipment safely and effectively.

• A relevant technical qualification in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Wind Turbine Technician, with a proven track record in servicing and repair.
• Strong understanding of wind turbine systems, including gearbox, generator, pitch, and yaw systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work at heights and in challenging weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the region.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with SCADA systems is advantageous.
