To support and handle all HSEQ technically complex issues and provide HSEQ technical environmental inputs such as development of environmental scope of work for external consultants, development of regulatory submission document through alignment with permits and licenses, fielding of regulatory requests regarding the environment and maintenance of our environmental controls for all facilities to ensure that the business complies to all environmental requirements where it operates.

What you'll have done before:

Baseline

  • NQF Level 7 (Degree in Science or Engineering)
  • 6 years technical experience in HSEQ Environmental field
  • Knowledge of Environmental Legislations

Advantageous

  • Honours in Science/ Engineering
  • 3 years HSEQ experience in Oil & Gas
What you'll be doing:

BUSINESS & TECHNICAL SUPPORT

  • Provide technical support to business in all environmental compliance matters including adherence to licence and permit requirements and all statutory submissions by being a custodian of all active environmental permits and licences to ensure business adherence to their conditions
  • Provide support with plant related initiatives that require environmental support including applications for EIAs, review of EIA conditions, support to business in meeting those conditions where environmental expertise is required
  • Support all environmental efforts of business partners, including capacity building, simplification of tasks, drawing up of consultant scope of work, support with regular government reporting and management the environmental systems on site
  • Manage soil and groundwater projects
  • Support in the management of the ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant)
  • Support to manage and retail the facility’s ISO
    14001 certification
  • Manage the escalation of issues to the environmental specialists

STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

  • Engage with local authorities on routine and planned engagements by liaising with the specialist where necessary to maintain and protect the integrity of the relationship between the business and regulatory authorities
  • Engage (in support to Public Relations) local communities on environmental matters of interest
  • Represent Engen and all other environmental matters and manage environmental issues relating to external stakeholders (communities, government, third party entities)
  • Provide support to the Cuttler Complex, the RTT projects, the Repurpose as well as the DMT and surrounding operations

STRATEGIC PLANS DEVELOPMENT

  • Lead the formulation of strategic plans and road map for the Durban Complex (RTT, Repurpose, DMT and Island View operations
  • Lead the review of policies and procedures in line with the business strategy and international standards requirements

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS & PROCESSES

  • Align Durban operations to the changing regulatory regime
  • Assess and implement PTS and MCF updates to Durban operations
  • Ensure retention of ISO
    14001 certification
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure emergency response to hydrocarbon spills is in place and effective
  • Manage and monitor compliance to legal requirements by all Durban operations

TRAINING SUPPORT

  • Provide support and knowledge amongst the business through engagement and conducting training to line and all relevant stakeholders on key environmental issues and specific topics to ensure compliance amongst the business

ASSURANCE

  • Conduct internal environmental audits for facilities and provide technical support to line during external environmental audits (e.g. ISO 14001 audits) by ensuring that these are conducted within required standards and regulations in order to track and identify gap closures where required and to ensure system integrity
  • Manage compliance to all permits and licences as well as environmental authorisations for the facilities in and around RTT complex (including the Cuttler Complex
Professional Registration / Associations

Registration with a Professional Association (SACNASP or equivalent)
