About the Role
Our client requires a skilled Mine Surveyor with a specialization in geotechnical monitoring for their operations near Durban . You will be responsible for the precise measurement and mapping of mine workings, infrastructure, and geological structures to support safe and efficient mining practices. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, a strong understanding of surveying principles, and the ability to work effectively with geotechnical engineers and mine planners.
You will contribute directly to maintaining operational integrity and safety standards in a busy mining environment.
- Conduct high-precision surveys of mine sites, including underground workings and surface infrastructure.
- Implement and manage geotechnical monitoring programs, measuring ground movement and stability.
- Process and analyze survey data, creating accurate maps, models, and reports.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant surveying standards and legislative requirements.
- Operate and maintain advanced surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS, and laser scanners.
- Collaborate with geologists and engineers to provide essential spatial data for planning and safety assessments.
- Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor, with demonstrated experience in geotechnical surveying.
- Proficiency with surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey) and total station/GPS equipment.
- Familiarity with underground and open-pit survey techniques.
- Strong understanding of geological formations and their impact on ground stability.
- Excellent accuracy, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
