About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and innovative Structural Engineer to lead their bridge design division in Durban . This key role will involve the conceptualization, design, and supervision of a diverse range of bridge structures, from pedestrian walkways to major highway overpasses. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and architects, ensuring that all designs are structurally sound, aesthetically pleasing, and compliant with national and international standards.
The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, promoting efficiency and team collaboration within the vibrant engineering community of Kwa Zulu-Natal.
- Lead the structural design of various bridge types, including concrete, steel, and composite structures.
- Perform advanced structural analysis and modeling using state-of-the-art software.
- Develop detailed design calculations, drawings, and specifications for bridge construction.
- Conduct site inspections and provide engineering support during the construction phase.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., SANS codes).
- Review designs prepared by other team members and provide constructive feedback.
- BSc/BEng or MEng in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of experience specifically in the design of bridges and related infrastructure.
- Professional registration as a Pr. Eng. with ECSA is essential.
- Expertise in structural analysis software such as MIDAS Civil, SAP
2000, or STAAD.Pro. - Thorough knowledge of bridge design principles, materials, and construction methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead project teams effectively.
