Electrical Engineer - Building Services

Our client is seeking a competent Electrical Engineer with a focus on Building Services to join their team in East London. This role is integral to the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems within commercial, industrial, and residential buildings, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with all relevant codes. You will work on diverse projects, collaborating with architects, project managers, and construction teams to deliver high-quality electrical solutions.

• Design electrical systems for new construction and renovation projects, including lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, and fire alarms.
• Prepare detailed electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations using CAD software and relevant standards.
• Conduct site inspections during the construction phase to ensure work is performed according to design specifications and quality standards.
• Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other consultants to ensure integrated building designs.
• Perform load calculations, voltage drop analysis, and short-circuit calculations for electrical distribution systems.
• Ensure compliance with national electrical codes (e.g., SANS), safety regulations, and energy efficiency standards.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing building electrical systems.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design for building services.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP).
• Strong knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations related to electrical installations.
• Experience with lighting design, power distribution, and low-voltage systems.
• Good understanding of mechanical and plumbing systems to facilitate integrated design.
