About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Structural Civil Engineer to join their team in Durban, focusing on exciting coastal development projects. This role is essential for designing robust and resilient structures that can withstand the unique challenges of the coastal environment, including marine influences and storm events. You will play a key part in shaping the future of Durban's coastline, ensuring the safety, integrity, and longevity of buildings, bridges, and marine infrastructure.
The position requires on-site presence to manage project details and collaborate closely with site teams and stakeholders.
- Perform structural analysis and design for buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure in coastal environments.
- Ensure designs meet all relevant building codes, standards, and environmental regulations specific to coastal construction.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to integrate structural designs into overall project plans.
- Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction phases to ensure adherence to design specifications.
- Assess the condition of existing coastal structures and recommend appropriate repair or strengthening strategies.
- Prepare detailed structural drawings, calculations, and reports using industry-standard software.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration is mandatory.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in structural design, particularly with coastal or marine projects.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP
2000, ETABS, Prokon). - Strong understanding of material science and construction methods applicable to coastal conditions.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
