About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer with expertise in grid integration to join their growing team in Durban . This role is crucial for ensuring the seamless and reliable connection of new energy sources, particularly renewables, to the existing power grid. You will be responsible for technical studies, system design, and compliance assurance, working closely with project teams and regulatory bodies.
This hybrid position offers the flexibility to work remotely part of the week while collaborating in person with colleagues and stakeholders in our Durban office, fostering innovation and effective problem-solving.
- Perform power system studies , including load flow, short circuit, stability, and protection coordination analyses.
- Design and specify electrical infrastructure for substations, transmission lines, and distribution networks, focusing on renewable energy integration .
- Ensure compliance with grid codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements for all interconnected projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, developers, and utility engineers to optimize grid connection strategies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to grid integration and power system performance.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field;
Master's degree is a plus. - Minimum of 5 years of experience in power system engineering , with a focus on grid connection of generation facilities.
- Proficiency in power system analysis software such as PSS/E, ETAP, or PSCAD.
- Solid understanding of grid codes , protection schemes, and power quality issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication abilities for a hybrid work environment.
