About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Product Development Engineer to join their team in Durban , focusing on the design and improvement of industrial machinery. This on-site role is integral to ensuring the continuous innovation and reliability of the company's product line. You will work hands-on with cutting-edge equipment and collaborate directly with manufacturing and R&D departments. The ideal candidate possesses a strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for problem-solving, contributing to projects that enhance operational efficiency and product performance for a diverse industrial clientele.
You will be part of a robust team committed to engineering excellence and tangible results.
- Design and develop new mechanical systems and components for industrial machinery, ensuring functionality, safety, and compliance with industry standards.
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using Solid Works or similar CAD software.
- Conduct FEA simulations to analyze stress, strain, and thermal performance of critical components.
- Collaborate closely with the production team to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement design modifications for improved manufacturability.
- Perform root cause analysis on product failures and develop corrective action plans.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including design revisions, test reports, and specifications.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and development of industrial machinery or heavy equipment.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Inventor) and FEA tools .
- Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and industrial automation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an on-site engineering team.
