About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Mine Planning Engineer to join their expanding coal mining operations in Durban . This role is pivotal in ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective extraction of resources. You will be responsible for developing short-term and long-term mine plans, optimizing production schedules, and integrating geological data with engineering principles. This position offers the chance to work within a well-established mining entity in the vibrant Kwa Zulu-Natal province, contributing to operational excellence and mine productivity through meticulous planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain detailed short-term and long-term mine plans, including production schedules and drill-blast patterns.
- Optimize mine layout, access routes, and equipment utilization to maximize resource recovery.
- Integrate geological models and survey data into mine planning software for accurate resource management.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining areas or operational changes.
- Monitor operational performance against plans, identifying deviations and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to all safety, health, and environmental regulations in mine planning and execution.
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in surface or underground mine planning .
- Proficiency with mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or Surpac.
- Solid understanding of mining methods, equipment capabilities, and geotechnical principles .
- Experience with coal mining operations is highly advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail.
