About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Metallurgist to drive process optimization at their facility near Durban. This role focuses on enhancing the efficiency and recovery rates of mineral processing operations. You will be responsible for troubleshooting complex metallurgical challenges, implementing innovative process improvements, and contributing to the economic viability of the mine. This position requires a blend of hands-on laboratory work and on-site process monitoring, offering a hybrid work model that balances focused analysis with operational engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze metallurgical test results and plant performance data to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize mineral recovery, reagent consumption, and overall process efficiency.
- Conduct troubleshooting of complex metallurgical problems and provide timely solutions.
- Design and oversee laboratory test work programs to evaluate new process technologies or reagents.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to implement process changes and monitor their effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental standards in laboratory and plant operations.
- Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mineral processing and metallurgy, with a strong focus on operational optimization.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve complex metallurgical challenges.
- Experience with various mineral processing techniques (e.g., flotation, leaching, gravity separation).
- Familiarity with metallurgical accounting and process simulation software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
